What is KYBELLA™?

KYBELLA™ is a prescription medication used for both men and women to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also known as “double chin”.

KYBELLA™ is the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance of a “double chin” due to submental or excess chin fat. The active ingredient in KYBELLA™ is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. After treatment with KYBELLA™, the fat cells are permanently destroyed and those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.

Who is a good candidate for KYBELLA™?

Both men and women who are concerned with submental fat or a “double chin”. Before receiving KYBELLA™, tell your LaserRN provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you: have had or plan to have plastic surgery on your face, neck, or chin; have had or have a medical condition in or near the neck area; have had trouble swallowing; have bleeding problems; are pregnant or plan to become pregnant; are breast feeding.

How many KYBELLA™ treatments will I need?

Patients with a moderate degree of submental fat will require approximately 2 treatments spread six to eight weeks apart. Patients with a larger “double chin” may require 3-4 treatments to achieved the desired results. A consultation will help us best determine the number of treatments you will require.
